This laptop was badly infected, and couldn’t connect to the internet via the 802.11G wifi wireless router.
I remove the infection, but for some reason, the wireless still won’t connect to my office wireless…
In the past, I’ve had problems with the intel proset wireless software, so I uninstall it and use the XP wireless software, but still no go.
I take a closer looks at the windows wireless settings, and I see that it only allows me to select TKIP as the encryption method… and the office wireless uses AES.
I’ve had something similar happen before, but its usually been an 802,11B verses 802.11G incompatibility…
So I try updating the intel driver: yep, there is a newer driver available.
So I install the new driver, reboot, and behold! I can now connect to AES encrypted wireless routers.
